Savannah Georgia
We are in Savannah Georgia and it is certainly different here than just south of here in Florida. The landscape has changed to many many inlets and marshes. There are huge oak trees and magnolia trees everywhere. They are very beautiful and have Spanish moss hanging off of them. It is not true moss but an epiphytic plant which grows on another plant but does not rely on the host plant for nutrients. The plants have very tiny seeds that are dispersed by wind and birds. We took a tour of historic Savannah and received much information about the area and the civil war. Very interesting facts and the houses are just gorgeous. The city is of made of many squares (parks) every few blocks. They have statues and fountains in them and are just packed full of history. I just loved the feeling of walking around under all the old oak trees (200-300 yrs old). Many of the people speak just like Forrest Gump. In fact we have a picture of an actor who jumped aboard our tour trolley and pretended he was Forrest. We also have a picture of me sitting on the exact bench that Forrest sat on when he was telling the story and eating his box of chocolates. The architecture is amazing and pictures just don't do it justice. It is extremely hot now (102F) so going for a swim.
